You can kind of see how it works. She has a permanent retainer at the top that will expand her jaw and the lower one clips on and the little hooks stick out. An elastic is attached from the bottom to the upper retainer to help pull her upper jaw forward. So far she has been real cooperative. It does hurt her teeth a little but it will adjust and she will be ok with it. She can remove the bottom one for eating and when she starts school she can remove it while she is there just for social reasons. Now she has to brush much more often to keep food out of the tiny crevises, but she doesnt seem to mind so far. I hope she sticks with it. She was feeling tired of it by bedtime so i let her go without, but we don't want her to do that very often. Sleep time will get the most results done. She already knows how to clip in the bottom one and take it out. She is clever that way!
