Our soggy weekend at Elk Island

Again, last minute camping has overruled us.  It was a drizzly weekend but we had fun nonetheless.

We spotted a moose on the way in around 9pm

pizza pops and pop tarts....aren't we so creative?

look at his puppy dog eyes!

an overabundance of butterflies, but they were gorgeous!

we are smiling because we just began hike #3....

see the frog? they were EVERYWHERE!

bison foot print....we saw many!

we are getting tired

the wild rose, alberta's provincial flower

one of many beaver lodges

and we spotted one!

after the hike....we did NOT like #3

brianne always smiles!

trying to dry our shoes from the rain....if you look closely, you can see the burned rubber traction imprint....andrew had to throw away those shoes because they stayed too close to the fire for too long....oops!

tired!

on our way out, more buffalo!

he kept his eye on us until we left!

WARNING!  The next images may be bothersome to some people.  We came across bison bones after an attack.

We should have taken a picture of the imprint on the ground of where the bison was laying.  There was hair everywhere!  We noticed on the trail many different kinds of animal tracks and some were coyotes.  Apparently, they had their way with the buffalo.  It was kind of neat and kind of disturbing!  The bones were HUGE!

That is sooo great that you are having lots of "outings" as a family! It looks absolutley beatiful everywhere you go! I think it is passed camping time here...much too hot! We hope to do something fun with the boys this summer!
